If it's any consolation the AF lounge in JNB is pretty crappy so you didn't miss much. The KLM one is marginally better. That said I always find the staff incredibly helpful in both lounges. On one occasion even physically went and found my suitcase from my SAA flight from LAD to make sure it connected properly.

Another glitch is in the procedure for getting your boarding passes for connecting from another international flight. Everyone gets off the LAD flight into the tiny international transfer desk area. If you are on KLM you must get your boarding passes there, if you are on Air France (unless it has changed recently) you can go to the lounge and get them there. Strange....and no-one seems to know why.
