Right -- though it's worth mentioning that I was upgraded to the two-bedroom suites on both occasions as a Platinum upgrade. My most recent visit, three months ago, it wasn't possible and I was told that it's "never" done. As you've said more than a couple times, YMMV.
At this property, given how busy it can be and based upon my recent experience with what I found to be a woefully inexperienced front-desk staff, I would secure, up front, what you're comfortable with -- whether it's with points or cash -- and be pleasantly surprised with anything you receive beyond that.
