I use a box case (http://www.bikehighway.com/preview_tricoiron.htm and have never had an issue with loading on a CRJ-100, or even a DH8. I've traveled close to 50 times with the box on UA, US and AC on RJ's. They may loose your bike , but it certainly fits on that size plane.
