Good luck on your trip Benny!

If you're already an ATT customer, then yeah, makes sense to stick with them. Three main things to do:

1) Verify your phone is either tri-band or quad-band (you can easily check on phonescoop.com or just post your model here and someone will tell you.

2) Call 611 and MAKE SURE you have international roaming enabled. Verify with the rep that you can *receive* calls while abroad. It is easy to enable this before you leave, but many forget to do so. If you don't have it enabled (and it isn't on by default) your phone simply won't register on any foreign networks.

3) Call 611 and ask for the SIM unlock code. You may not need to use it, but if you run into trouble (an area with no roaming coverage for some reason) or are looking for a cheaper way to make calls back to the US, having an unlocked handset means that switching to a local pre-paid card is simply a matter of switching SIMs. You can use your ATT SIM all day, swap in the pre-paid one to make your calls home, then swap back to the ATT SIM.
