Best place is Stall # 88 at the Lau Pa Sat Open Air food stalls (so it has to be at night) for Satay. You are free to sit anywhere and there will be many other Satay hawkers pushing their wares for you - but insist on Stall # 88 - it is virtually in front of the stairs, and to your right. It is run by mother/daughter/brothers team and the satay is one of the best around.

That said, however, Satay did not originate from Singapore but from Malaysia and the best satay will depend on the origin, type etc. The tastes will be different - from Singapore and Malaysia (and Malaysia is so diverse, that satay from Penang will differ from satay from Johor).
