Not that you'll want to do this much work, but FWIW, I've found that since the res migration, when looking for reward seats, I'm better off building it segment by segment.

For whatever reason it's light years faster to ask the website to show me PHL>FCO, than it is to ask for DCA>FCO. Once I've found acceptable long haul options, it's not too hard to back track to find a DCA>PHL segment that will work. Likely more difficult for west coasters with fewer options into PHL though.
