deadheading FAs could be getting paid, so you don't know that.
and, on late night flights, one shouldn't have to wear noise cancelling headphones. sure, it would be smart. but, FAs should keep noise to a minimum if people (i.e., customers) are trying to sleep.
They are getting paid for their transit time similar to any deadheading crew, but they are not paid to participate in the service.
Any involvement would be done as a courtesy, unless they voluntarily replace an ill crew member to prevent delays/cancellations.
