And I completely disagree that people with kids should be given preferential treatment. I've seen families with completely mobile, older kids asking for pre-board rights and then FA's just let them go instead of arguing about the obvious.
I'm a father of three, and I say leave your kids at home. Buy a Minivan and show them the USA the old fashioned way!

No offense, but I bet you're a 'good ol' American' who's entire family lives in the same town, and would never expose your children to the 'horrors' of the 'outside world'.
Your post wasn't exactly helpful, not even close to accurate/applicable to our circumstances. This trip (save the flights, though when she didn't sleep she had a ball anyways) we took was the best thing we could have done for our daughter's development.
