I regularly take the morning HKG-KUL flight which is often operated by a three-class A330 despite no F being sold on the route. I'd say on more than 50% of the flights where they have this aircraft on this route I have been allocated a seat in the F section. I always thought it was because the flight was full and they moved me forward based on status, but the last time it happened I took a look back into J during the flight and it was half-empty, so it seems they just give it to status pax irrespective of the fullness or otherwise of J (unless there are trim issues that mean they need to I suppose). Big ^ to Cathay for this - costs them nothing but gives me a very warm feeling about flying them.
