Three cheers for a "nasty" policy.... I get fed up waiting in security queues or elsewhere because people bring so much carry-on. Laptop bags have become the excuse to effectively double up hand baggage allowances. Then you get all those bags of duty free. I don't want my limited carry-on damaged as someone shoves their heavy stuff into a locker not designed to take so much.

As with all these things, it becomes a farce if rules aren't enforced. 7Kg is a bit tight. Think I'd up the weight to 12Kg and say the total of all bags should fit into the required volume. Always going to be a problem - people will start stuffing their coat pockets.... Probably double allowances for "proper" C class.

It would be helpful if airlines didn't lose/damage stuff or took proper responsibility when they do.

I would guess I typically carry around 8kg - I use a "large" laptop style bag with a small laptop inside.
