Could you list your flights? If on an all-TG itinerary (TG791/TG126) then you will be OK as you transit at BKK. If changing carriers or transferring between BKK and DMK then I;d recommend at least 3 hours. Some JFK-CNX-JFK itineraries do call for a transfer between BKK and DMK.
