While it is bound to happen and is scheduled for "later in 2007", it all has to do with CX's displeasure at granting AA miles for travel on its subsidiary. If you have noticed, most cheap fares and offers on CX come with the clause "FF miles on AsiaMiles only". What they need is a Chinese competitor becoming an associate partner and then it will happen, probably with promotional bonuses. This is in the works, probably not for your planned dates yet.
