That's a good point. I did note a fee for phone booking in the rules as they try to push you towards using the online resource. But if I can find a Skyteam route at a better cost AND pay the booking fee out of my own pocket, I can't see how the company would have a problem with that. I'm pretty sure that between ITA, FareCompare, ExpertFlyer, etc., I can do better than they can.
Also much relief that the UA priority is to your company specifically. I'm happy just as long as we don't work for the same place!
