If your idea of vacation is to see everything once and move on, then 3 nights is sufficient to walk the entire grounds of HWV, try each waterslide and pool once, and take the "back of the house" tour where you'll see the extended basement area. But I can pretty much guarantee you that this is no child's idea of vacation.

Some FTers may disagree, but vacation is not really about being a collector of as many sights as possible. (Confession: I used to plan vacations precisely that way.)

If you go to HWV, it's practically a crime not to stay there and just relax and have pointless fun, and let the children do the same. I've been all over the island, and IMHO once you've seen the volcano there is no better use of your time than just relaxing at the HWV. Take the 6 days. You'll wish it had been 8.
