i just contacted sia taiwan taoyaun airport and they said that you are not allowed to check in your luggage that early for the flight to LAX. They did say that you could either have it forwarded through by air nippon, or there is a "luggage hotel" at the airport where you can check your luggage for the day and go into taipei. when you are ready to check in at night, you can pick up your luggage, and pay only a small fee, and then check in at sia counters. this way, you don't have to carry your luggage into the city, which takes about 35-40 mins from the airport. hope this info helps.
