Ryan...I didn't miss his point...read what you quoted of me. I said that I am NOT one of those who make poverty and can't afford at risk pay. 2 billion/50k is $40,000. Yes...and do you think that the majority of it went to those who are at the 50k-250k pay, or the sub 20k pay? Someone did get it, and those at the bottom (not me...I am in the "average" range) got their share, which is realted to total compensation AND LABOR GROUP.
I am a profit sharing participant with at risk pay.,,but don't confuse a 2--50 million (depending on stock price) bonus is related to profit sharing...there is no causality.
The "I got 1 share" quote refers to neither profit sharing nor a "bonus". That was what was left over from setteled chap 11 claims that came in lower than estimates. Thgis is where the $2 billion came from as well. So far there have been (3) total distributions. The 1st one was large...a sizeable, but still non-majority fraction of total annual pay. The next (2) were progressivly lower, with the last one being aroun 1/10 of 1% of pay...Don't let people throw tons of different numbers at you to try to muddle the waters.
Paybacks for defaulted pensions from unsettled Chap 11 claims is not the same as a bonus for someone whose pension was protected and hadn't been subject to the default (it was earned at Texaco and bught/paid in full by UAL.) Apples oranges...2 billion to all employees was NOT in any way an offset to exec bonus or even "at risk pay". Figures lie, and liars figure, so make sure that before passing judgement on the unfortunate ones, that the numbers given to you by the top end to confuse you are apples to apples, not apples to oranges.
Go to Vegas and complain? I would not complain but I would feel bad if the poor guy on his only vacation in years was forced to pay for his cab ride there for him and his Execs, the Execs paid nothing, took the money for their share of the cab ride, and then won big, then instead of cutting the poor guy in on his share of the winnings (from the cab money he fronted the Execs,) the execs just paid back the original ammount (but only less than the original amount.) I would feel bad for the poor guy in that situation...replace cab ride with "shared sacrifice" replase Vegas with UAL, and we are speakin the same language. Me, I go to the riverboat instead of flying 3 hours in economy minus in a center seat to the rear of an orange and blue packed A320.
