SEOUL (Reuters) - The number of survivors from an Air China passenger aircraft that crashed near South Korea (news - web sites)'s second largest city Monday stood at 20 as of 12:30 a.m. EDT, a South Korean official told Reuters.

YTN television news had earlier reported there were as many as 25 survivors from the Boeing 767 jet that crashed while trying to land at Pusan's Kimhae Airport amid heavy rain and thick fog.

Authorities had closed Kimhae airport more than two hours before the jet that flew from Beijing had crashed into a mountainside, local media said.
