I think the best option is a triband UMTS device.
Unfortunately, no BB available with this configuration and the only one that does any 2100mhz UMTS doesn't offer any support other than gprs when back in SFO.
The SIM in the 8830 is for use with the GSM radio in the device (not the CDMA radio), so it's not going to do you much good in South Korea which is almost exclusively CDMA. The 8830 is basically two phones in one: a CDMA phone that is configured for use on VZW (and will roam onto its partners) and a 900/1800 GSM phone that will use the SIM to run on European GSM networks (but not US networks).
