On an off post topic -- can anyone help with providing advice on a 'conditional upgrade' from 2P to 1P? I am going to be flying 36k EQM this month (lots of travel for work), and in addition to the 16k EQM I already have, I am going to sail past it with flying colors (I'll never hit 1K though). I tried calling the "Premier" Mileage Plus line and all I got was a lot of ICC miscommunication and fodder.
I was just short of 1P status last month heading to MUC. I asked UA very nicely if they'd consider advancing status (I'd make 1P with the MUC trip) so I could use the *A lounge in MUC. I showed them my itineraries and explained I was on my way to 1K this year. They wrote me a nice letter but basically said 'no dice'.
As much as I would have loved to hit the lounge, I appreciate that they're protecting the status.
