I'm not sure I understand why there is concern about a 2 BR actually being a 1BR with a connecting bedroom. It's not like it was a totally goofy setup at FS or MONY by having a connecting bedroom. The layout in both places felt a little long, but it certainly was not an issue.

The Taipan Suite at the MONY lists for about $7000/night, as of a year ago. The price then dropped to $5000/nt when I checked into it. (We now always use a Virtuoso travel agent to book our trips.)

You need to be careful at Trump. The original 1BR suite that we were first brought to was nothing at all like what was described on the phone by the Trump reservation person. The 1BR we were then brought to was significantly larger and nicer. It matched the description on the phone and on the website. I believe there might be a wide variety of rooms/suites within each category.
