I've had probably 10 false alarms happen to me and I never asked for anything except for one time at a Doubletree in Portland. I checked in at midnight. I was going to checkout at about 8AM to go to work. The first false alarm went off at 3:30AM and lasted for about 15 minutes. After I went back to the room and was about to fall asleep, another false alarm went off for about 30 minutes this time. I tried to fall asleep through it but I couldn't. I got up and decided to just shower and leave the hotel. As I was walking down the hall to the frontdesk, a third false alarm started to go off. By this time it was about 5AM. I was a little pissed that I only got ~3 hours of sleep so at the front desk I asked for credit for half my room rate back and they said no problem and refunded half my rate. But under normal circumstances I would not ask for compensation.
