This may sound stupid or naive, but weren't you a little surprised that no one in first offered to give up their seat to him? I think that if there was a person on the plane that I greatly admired, politician or otherwise, I would consider doing it out of respect, etc. And though I am not from MSP, I thought Wellstone was pretty popular back in the day.
He's still enormously popular judging by the number of Wellstone bumper stickers still evident in Minnesota. Maybe they are still giving them out, or Minnesotans are super-frugal about buying new cars, you literally see them everywhere.
