I guess you are referring to the entire fleet, because SAS has been pretty good on aligning their long haul fleet for the last 15+ years. When it comes to short haul SAS has 200+ planes in their fleet so it's a lot harder for them to change the fleet than Finnair. Finnair has now 3 different type of planes in their long haul fleet: 757s (with 227 seats

), MD11 for a few years and A330s/A340s). It will take years for the AY long haul fleet to be aligned
A340-300E consumes 20% less fuel than MD11 does and has higher MTOW compared to the non enchanced A340 version (more cargo).
