coming back to the thread....
I fly BA because I have done for over 20 years, its become a habit that i find hard to break. I fly many other airlines as well when BA dont route direct/fly so I can make comparisons. A recent F SIN/KUL 50 minute flight on SIngapore showed me why BA gets my business. Breakfast was a plate of melon and a fruit juice with tea/coffee. Yes I was addressed as Mr Mutu and the seat was bigger (but just as tired) but the crew delivered nothing like the service of a LHR/CDG ealt morning club service.
so my thoughts:
1. Habit and lots of miles to burn
2. Gold status is worth something and worth keeping
3 Cabin crew (vast majority) get it just right, polite professional, will have a laugh if you want, will be stiff lipped if you want, but always well looked after
4. The whole set up feels like home (familiarity). Its like home somehow, you know the (F) cabin needs to be restyled but its home from home and still very comfortable
5. 747/777 fleet on longhaul
6 Network reach (despite some reductions in areas) still significant
7. Frequency of service shorthaul and key longhaul destinations
8. It has been and continues to be one of the few real innovators in on board service and deserves to be supported rather than abandoned for a cheap copy cat!
Despite the fiasco of LHR that is NOT BA and somehow I sort of feel bad for them that their business is being damaged by an unavoidable third party. Its not as though WW and the boys are laughing at us as we trudge through the queues with our plastic bags and single carry on.
