Hefty entertainment package on Finnair's new Airbuses

New technically superior solutions on Finnair's long-haul Airbus A340 aircraft significantly add to passenger comfort. Passengers can now freely choose from the extensive communications and entertainment selection of the aircraft.

"All seats in both Economy and Business Class are equipped with the newest Panasonic eXZ2 entertainment system on the market. It includes 20 films and numerous tv and audio channels. In addition the system contains a 60 cd collection from which you can compile your own play lists, and 16 game channels. Some games can also be played with your neighbour in the seat next to you, for example," explains Product Manager Markku Remes from Finnair.

Customers also have better opportunities to work on their personal computers as all seats in every travel class have a power outlet. A USB outlet is also provided for the use of an iPod, for instance.

Thanks to the satellite telephones provided at each seat of the new A340 aircraft, Finnair customers can send text messages and short emails for the first time during flight from the air to the ground. Passengers also will be able to read and answer messages and mail sent from the ground at their seat. Each sent or received message will cost US$ 2.00. For the first time passengers can call other passengers on board the same flight. This service is free of charge.

Finnair's first new Airbus A340 arrived at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport on Friday 25 May. The next one will arrive in June. The Airbus A340-300Es will be operated on routes to Tokyo, Nagoya and Shanghai.
