Well, it's finally time for us to start spending those 240K mile bonuses we earned last year (GF and I both got the offer)
I'm in the final stages of planning an SR trip to Asia at the end of this month, hitting Japan and Singapore.
I saw the excellent posting from AirOli et. al. on the changes in C/J class since "the Troubles", but I haven't seen anything similar on F. Since I'm about to blow a huge block of miles on F awards, I'd really like to hear from anyone who has travelled long haul F on SR recently.
Last flight was around May 2001, and I found the service very, very good (though the food service probably wasn't
quite as amazing as our previous experience in 1999, the fun seats more than made up for it!). So, basically, that's my benchmark. What can I expect?
Specifically:
Any cutbacks visible in the F-Class lounge at ZRH? Do they still let in onward F passengers in who are in transit to C-class flights?
Any glaring changes to the in-flight catering and amenity packs?
Are they still doing cabin maintenance, or am I likely to find that the seats don't work?
Finally, are the cabin crews showing the effects of it all in their attitude?
To me, I guess this is our farewell flight on Swissair, who have treated us both very well over the years. I'm just keen to know if I should be forewarned of anything.
On a related note, if all goes well, I'm expecting that we will be overnighting in ZRH on the evening of the 24th Feb. If any of the "usual suspects" are around, we're always happy to be social! (I used to be a regular in ZRH, so I'm not trying to beg a tour guide)
