rtwstaralliance, I've now started traveling to Japan thanks to you and your great trip reports. I completely agree re prices. Japan IS affordable. Also, public transportation is highly efficient and well priced.

What kind of room did you get at the HR Kyoto? Were you given any kind of upgrade?
