Heathriel, excellent reviews!
Just to add a few points... It is odd that the Lvl 5 ice machine requires a card. Building 1's machine (basically the other side of of the reception, and upstairs) does not need a card. Access to the lounge (corridor/lift lobby!) is no worry! Food tonight was better than I expected from a HH exec lounge (but myexpectations are low ).

As heathriel stated, the buildings are old, like the lifts etc, but all fittings are new and in new condition.

My shower does not drain properly, despite repeated attempts to keep the plug open. It seems Hiltons and I have a drains and plumbing antagonism (will never forget being woken from a deep sleep by the pipes at the horrible old SFO Hilton).

The 'free' drinks served at the 'Manager's Drinks' at 5PM daily are barely drinkable - I found one in five mai tais were okay and the rest basically water. Great to know that the $13/day resort fee is not going into decent drinks
Parking is great and the pools are heated (I think) as they are unnaturally warm. Spas are great and quite hot.

The fitouts of Hilton rooms are very good IMO, for a Hilton.
By comparison, the corridors to the rooms the Princeville floors seem to be in need of renovation. I agree with heathriel that the window tinting is looking poor and that great views at the hotel are from only the Living Room bar and the cafe/terrace restaurants.

I actually like the Princeville pool setup and love the views from there and from the fitness centre, terraces and Living Room. Speaking of which, service at the bar was non-existent; just one waiter in an almost empty place this afternoon, who was surly, fairly on edge and almost argumentative with some other guests. He never came to ask us for an order. He was clearly arguing or in dispute with at least one of the busboys, who was friendly and talkative to guests. Eventually I went up to the bar for the privelege of an $8 beer for each of us, plus all the added charges.

I was never ever approached by the supposed service staff / waiter in our time there, except when he checked our bill (was he expecting a tip from US when he Never approached us at any time?). Terrible normally, but surely at the Princeville's most pleasant afternoon spot, there would be someone friendly to approach all guests/customers and ensure that they had what they wanted?

Generally speaking, another less-known benefit of the Hilton's location is that there is probably more and varied dining options in the area (primarily Kapaa) than I could list in Princeville and possibly Poipu - and not as blatantly overpriced as some of the rip-off merchants at Hanalei next to Princeville.

Just one last thing - the 'show' at 6PM has degenerated this week from live people singing and playing (ukelele!) with three dancers, down to a couple of teens playing a taped music track, with one dancer doing some kind of hula. Between a couple of drinks at the bar and preparing for dinner, few people probably care.
