I always use my E-500s on this route since I seem to have little luck anywhere else.
I'll second that, any domestic flight thats on a 3-class 777 is worth the upgrade to an int'l C seat regardless of distance. There used to be a 777 LAX-DEN (UA 814 at about 11 AM) that always cleared, a great use of 2 500's. Now the only 777 to DEN leaves at 6 AM. And of course, there's UA 946 LAX-IAD at 7:50 AM, that's a 777 for now. The return flight 947 IAD-LAX is even better because it's dinner. 5 500's, but well worth it.
