1) Apply for an Amex Platinum Credit Card and use it for 6-9 months.
2) Then apply for the BA AMEX Premium Plus Card
3) Time this second application so that you fix the anniversary date of your potential 241 voucher which allows you a following years spending to accumulate the $10K target.
4) When you get your voucher a year later, BA reservations will be opened for using it a further 50 weeks ahead and you can book seats with as much free ability as BA is offering...(which might be zilch).
So for an example in organising the timing:-
-If I want a 241 flight in May 2010 and every May forward
- Apply for an AMEX Platinum Credit Card - Nov 2007
- Wait 6 months
- Apply for a BA AMEX Premium Plus Card - May 2008
- Spend for 12 months May 2008>May 2009 to accumulate £10K on the card
-241 VoucherAwarded May 2009
-BA Reservations opens May 2009 and can book a year ahead for May 2010
-WOW this is gonna take 3 years to deliver the first payback!
My only other question is...will I live long enough to get any travel benefit or by then will flying be banned except for politicians, the military and pressure groups flying to world conferences on how to ban flying.
I think I had best use up my Airmiles and Virging miles pronto
