Luxor Just Okay

Stayed there last week myself for the first time. Observations that may help you:

1. Get an upgraded tower room when you book. They offer plenty of deals with a free upgrade. Room is nicer, newer than the pyramid rooms and they have a separate walk-in shower.

2. Rooms are a little better (but not much) than a typical 3-star Strip property. Pretty much on par with the Aladdin room. Better than the basic Flamingo-quality room.

3. Property itself is large and dysfunctional. Ongoing construction in the center of the casino floor creates a no-so-attractive atmosphere.

4. Check-in is crowded. If you get a tower room, bypass the main check-in and go to the desk at the lobby level of the West hotel tower. They will check you in there and no lines.

5. Food choices are basically high-end overpriced or fast food overpriced. (Almost $20 for a hot dog meal for two at Nathan's???) Did have some wonderful appetizers at Fusia one evening.

6. Location is not ideal for walking the strip, but there is a tram in front that connects Luxor with Mandalay Bay and Excalibur.

Not horrible if you get a great deal but I doubt if I will stay there again.
