I suppose it comes down to whichever individual is looking after your accounts. The account manager I have at the Queen's Rd Central branch is an absolute joy - especially noticeable since moving to Thailand last year. Nothing seems to be too much trouble for her.
You are right, of course it alweays comes down to the individuals. But when you have to bank at different branches, the chance that you get a resonable service is better in HSBC (up to my experience). The main reason I changed was the suckingly slow and complicated internet banking at that time. And I have to admit I have a premier account with HSBC which adds a lot of comfort.
