Advice on how to make use of hotel concierges
I am not used to dealing with hotel concierges for anything. Within the past few years we are used to a nice standard of hotel and usually stay in 4 or 5 star places which have concierges etc, but we don't make use of their services. Up till now if we wanted to go for dinner we would arrange it ourself.
Is there any guide or does anyone have tips on how interact with the concierge?
I assume they can recommend restaurants, reserve a table, recommend shows or events and book tickets for these. What other services do concierges provide?
Also how does the payment work. Do they add on a service charge when the concierge books tickets to something? Is tipping standard, how much do you tip, and do you tip for each service or at the end of the hotel stay?
Anyway I am used to being independent and doing everything myself, it is a little hard to get used to the idea of someone doing things for me, any advice on this would be appreciated.
