I value miles when used for awards as..Lowest Bookable Coach class Fare..Plus Miles for Upgrade at 2 cents a mile [Which your brother could buy and then get a Credit card for remaining]..Plus Co-pay.

So: Fare say $1200, Miles say $1000,Co-Pay $500...Total Value $2,700 a ticket.
