Except that China Airlines doesn't fly to mainland China; it is the flag carrier of Taiwan. Due to intense political pressures, the airline cannot rename itself. A couple years ago, after spending millions of dollars painting a plane with colorful "Taiwan" to try to promote tourism, the plane was repainted back to the normal color scheme because of political threats. Perhaps this is why the Boeing color scheme is preferred- it makes the name less obvious.
