Eh, EasyJet was very upfront about their abnormal baggage restrictions when I checked in on a flight with them last fall, and the gate agent even went so far as to tell me about their new, upcoming rule changes even though I indicated that I wasn't likely to fly with them for the next year. Didn't seem like too much of a cash grab to me. ^
What good is it to hear it from the ******* gate agent?? By the time you're there, how many options do you have to deal with the many kilos of stuff that you either have to take with you or toss in the trash?
