Does anyone have any idea if 55 minutes is sufficient connection time arriving on one of the Gulfstream/CO Connection flights from the Out Islands in the Bahamas? Are the Out Islands like NAS, where you clear US customs and immigrations prior to even boarding a US-bound flight?

I'll be flying in on a Sun afternoon from GHB (Governors Harbour, Eleuthera) continuing onto EWR. CO.com sold us the 55 minute connection, but I imagine that:
-arriving in the FLL international terminal
-waiting to clear immigration
-going to the CO terminal in the opposite side of the airport
-and then clearing security could all very well take more than 55 minutes.

I would greatly appreciate if anyone with experience arriving from GHB (or any of the Out Islands... Andros, Exuma, Bimini, Abaco, Cat Island) could provide some insight on the FLL arrivals procedures.

P.S. I did a search for FLL connection times. There are a couple threads for flights arriving as domestic (NAS, EYW), but non for int'l.
