How many tickets do you need? Are you sure there are enough tickets in the standard V bucket for you to get them all at the individual rate? If so, just buy them that way if you don't mind sending in all the money now.

If you're definitely flying United on those flights, don't worry about what fares will do between now and then. If they drop, you can get the difference back as a voucher. If they go up, you have insurance.
