I've seen as many as 14 planes ahead of the one I sat in on the tarmac while waiting for the 7 am opening bell. The first usually starts a take-off roll at 7:00:20. Number 14 finally gets to take off about half an hour later.
Being first in line is like luggage lotto, hoping yours is the very first one off the conveyer belt....
All my Eagle flights have fortunately been in the first 5 to depart

But it sure is fun being at the end of the terminal (Gate 14) and seeing all the planes pushback at the same time in a race to wait.
