I'd love to know what the 'rule book' says about that actually - are pilots allowed to carry stuff that passengers aren't? I guess if they aren't, then sure, it goes against common sense, but rules are rules.

Personally, I'd rather have a happy pilot at the controls than an angry one who has just suffered a spiceless meal.
