I was one of the 154 fines to BA when I arrived in MEL from LHR last July. I thought I was going to be sick when immigration checked my passport and then stated, "Where is your visa? It is a $5,000 fine to arrive in Australia without a visa."

I felt better when they said it would be the airline that is charged and not me.

It was an expensive trip for BA since I was flying on a 150,000 mile First class award from the US-LHR-Australia and besides only paying $242 in taxes they had a $5,000 fine tacked to my tab.
