You could even find more interesting the ratio of fines compared to non-Australian (and NZ since they don't need visas either) passport holders carried to Australia by carrier. That would then give the true picture of who is slack at identifying visa dodgers.

Also hidden is the cost of the deportation which must be borne by the airline - if a flight is full then a fare payer must be bumped.

Interestingly OT I have just discovered it is illegal under Australian law for an Australian citizen to enter Australia on a passport other than an Australian passport.
