Dropping off the rental car, yes (hypothetically depending on what time of day and where you are coming from). As far as security and check-in goes, I don't really see a difference between the two airports.
Most Dallas travelers make their decision on the two airports (all other things equal) based on where they are coming from/going to (much like you would with Hobby or Intercontinental in Houston back when there was still much of a choice).
