I agree,
a quick check, while not totally comparable to a TATL flight, shows Delta 907 BDL-LAX serves dinner in First Class on this non-stop service.

I would assume if dinner on cross country flights are being catered (albeit ONLY in FC); NW would be able to work out the catering for a TATL flight.
