IIRC the airline industry uses a 5 level screening process for checked bags. I believe these days all bags go through at least level 2 screening and I assume you bags failed that test and had to have the more thorough level 3 test. It happens and is nothing to worry about. You need to get up to failing the level 5 test to be regarded as a bomb threat.
