Just my 2-cents ... If you're right at the 80K mark in miles, and still want that C Saver trip to Europe, you'll need to be sure that you're going to be able to make up those miles. The ORD-NRT trip will get you about 6274 miles, so in reality it will cost you only 8726 miles for the one-way upgrade. (Unless you've got status and are getting an additional RDM bonus.) If you're content in E+, I'd go with option B and save the miles. On the other hand, if you're confident you'll be able to earn those miles back before having to book for Europe ... definitely go with the miles upgrade.
