The new Qantas low-cost airline, Jetstar, is now open for
bookings for flights from late May 2004. The initial routes are:
- Sydney to Gold Coast, Hamilton Island, Hobart, Launceston,
Sunshine Coast, Mackay#, Melbourne (Avalon) and Rockhampton
- Melbourne to Brisbane (from Avalon), Gold Coast, Hamilton
Island#, Hobart, Launceston, Newcastle, Sunshine Coast, Sydney

- Brisbane to Hamilton Island, Cairns, Hobart, Mackay, Melbourne
(Avalon), Newcastle, Proserpine, Rockhampton

Redeem Qantas Frequent Flyer points with Jetstar

The good news is that you can redeem your Qantas Frequent Flyer
points for travel on Jetstar*. However, you won't earn Frequent
Flyer points or Status credits when flying on Jetstar.
For specific changes to the Qantas Frequent Flyer Terms and
Conditions regarding Jetstar, please see the end of this email.

Terms and Conditions
Amendments to the Terms and Conditions of the Qantas Frequent
Flyer Program in relation to Jetstar Airways.

The following definitions and clauses replace (or are added to,
as the case may be) existing definitions and clauses with effect
from 25 February 2004. Full Terms and Conditions are available
at qantas.com or by calling 61 3 9658 5302.
Definitions
"oneworld Alliance Airline" means any airline that is a member of
the oneworld(TM) alliance from time to time. As at the date of
printing these Terms and Conditions the members of the oneworld
alliance (other than Qantas) are Aer Lingus, American AirlinesĀ®,
British Airways, Cathay Pacific Airways, Finnair, Iberia and
LanChile. Australian Airlines and Jetstar Airways are not members
of the oneworld alliance;
"Qantas Flight Award" means a flight operated and marketed by
Qantas, which can be obtained by redeeming Points through Qantas
Frequent Flyer.
Clauses
9.2 Points for Air Travel
9.2.1 Points for air travel may only be earned for paid travel on
regular scheduled flights (subject to clause 9.2.4) where a
Qantas flight number (or the flight number of any oneworld
Alliance Airline or Frequent Flyer Partner Airline not excluded
under clause 9.3) is entered on the ticket ("Eligible Flight").
For the purposes of earning Points, Status Credits and the
Minimum Points Guarantee, Eligible Flights exclude Australian
Airlines and Jetstar Airways operated flights even where a Qantas
flight number is entered on the ticket. In situations where it is
a Qantas aircraft but where another airline's flight number is
entered on the ticket, Points are not earned unless that
particular airline is a Frequent Flyer Partner Airline or a
oneworld Alliance Airline. See clause 9.3 for earning
restrictions and clause 10.4.6 for redeeming restrictions on
individual oneworld Alliance Airlines and Frequent Flyer Partner
Airlines.
9.2.3 Subject to clause 9.3, one Frequent Flyer Point is awarded
for each 1.609 kilometres (equivalent 1 mile) travelled on all
Eligible Flights ("base economy accrual rate").
9.3 Frequent Flyer Partner Airlines and oneworld Alliance
Airlines - Exclusions and Restrictions on Point Earning
9.3.1 a.) Points cannot be earned on flights operated by Jetstar
Airways or Australian Airlines, even where a Qantas flight number
is entered on the ticket.
10. Redeeming Points
10.2 Flight Awards - Children/Infants, Advance Booking, Blackouts
10.2.5 Flight Awards may only be redeemed on Eligible Flights.
Qantas, oneworld Alliance Partners and Frequent Flyer Partner
Airlines may vary what is considered an eligible flight and may
impose restrictions on the redemption of Flight Awards on certain
flights from time to time.
10.4 Flight Awards - Booking Conditions
10.4.6 Redemption Booking Restrictions: (the following are added
to the existing provisions of 10.4.6 b.) and c.)
b.) Jetstar Airways: Award bookings on Jetstar Airways operated
flights may only be booked under a 'QF' flight designator.
c.) Australian Airlines and Jetstar Airways are not members of
the oneworld alliance.
10.5 Flight Awards - Changes and Reissues
10.5.5 No changes requiring ticket reissue will be allowed within
24 hours of departure or once travel has commenced on any Flight
Award ticket. Any Flight Award ticket containing a Jetstar
Airways operated flight cannot be changed within 24 hours prior
to scheduled commencement of travel or after travel has
commenced.
10.6 Flight Awards - Cancellation and Refunds
10.6.1 Flight Award tickets issued for travel on Qantas and/or
Partner Airlines may be submitted for refund and recredit prior
to commencement of travel. Any Flight Award ticket containing a
Jetstar Airways operated flight cannot be refunded within 24
hours of scheduled departure. Where applicable, only Points that
have not expired will be recredited. A Cancellation Fee (as set
out in the Schedule of Fees) will apply.
13. Membership Status, Recognition and Benefits
13.1.5 The travel required in each membership year to attain or
retain Silver, Gold or Platinum status must include a minimum of
four sectors on Qantas or QantasLink.

10.Access to Lounges
10.1 From 1 June 2004, Qantas Club Members are entitled to access
The Qantas Club lounge in the departure port when the Member's
next onward flight on that day is with Qantas, a QantasLink,
Australian Airlines or Jetstar service.
10.3 From 1 June 2004,Guest Passes will not be required. Guests
in international Qantas Club lounges must be accompanied by the
Member and must be travelling with the Member that day. Guests
in Australian and New Zealand domestic Qantas Club lounges must
be accompanied by the Member but need not be travelling.
10.4 From 1 June 2004, Guest Passes will not be required. There
will be a limit of one guest per Member in all Qantas Club
lounges, except that: Platinum Qantas Frequent Flyers are
entitled to up to two guests in Australian and New Zealand
domestic lounges.
