FAMs don't "take" seats. FAMs go to work everyday and sit in assinged seats that is regulated by the FAMS. If you want to argue about FAMS stealing seats you should find plenty of company with some folks here.
You may not be of lesser class, but you're taking up premium seats that other potentially paying customers or frequently flying customers with legitimate needs could have used. In the name of 'security'. I doubt few people (myself included) have any issue with you or your ilk on a personal level. As you say, you're just some guy I don't know. I think what people object to are the (IMO) worthless charades that are the TSA and FAM programs which seem to little more than take up space and slow things down to placate John and Jane Q. Public.
You, personally, are doing what your employer tells you, nothing wrong with that, that's what a job is. Your employer the government, however, (again, IMO) is a thief and a scaremongering fool.
