So unlike many (most?) people on this board, even though I'm 1K, I don't earn it by flying around for a magnanimous financial services company, consulting, oil, IT, or similar. So I usually try to save money for my employer's budget since it means we can go additional interesting places once in a while. Needless to say, I've never bought anything but cheap economy.
So chalk up a milestone for me today. I bought a transatlantic B fare, because we have to get to and from the US from the UK on specific dates, and I can tell you the price hurt. I suppose it isn't a big deal for the regulars here, but I just wanted to make a note of it, and let you all make fun of me for being such a yokel
That being said, I do find myself (especially working in the UK) becoming increasingly desensitized to what prices are, and the numbers. When I see a dollar figure that would've absolutely been incomprehensible to me a few years ago, I now usually say, eh, the cost of living. Is that bad? I don't know. But it sure makes the sting of B class less painful.
