Actually, if you are going to a partner lounge such as BA , they do not have to let you in ( and with BA often will not ) unless you have your WP card. I have always been asked for this ( except when travelling 1st class ) when trying to access the LGW 1st lounge. This is hardly surprising given that it is quite easy to fake status.

The only weapon against the BA Red Dragons is a spot of Emerald on a OW card
